This course builds on the skills covered in our Level I course by providing teachers with the opportunity to deepen their knowledge of G Suite and apply instructional best practices to create enhanced learning experiences for students.Participants will learn how to leverage digital tools to create differentiated assessments, provide student feedback and analyze student data. The course is led by current NYCDOE teachers who use G Suite tools in their classrooms.
Participants who successfully complete this course will demonstrate the ability to use technology to design assessments and lesson plans using the principles of backwards planning and the SAMR model.
Prerequisite:
Successful enrollment in this course assumes that teachers they have GAFE accounts and devices for use with their students in the classroom context. Teachers without GAFE/G Suite accounts should obtain permission from their school leader and/or work with technology staff at their school to set up a pilot domain and student accounts for their school and/or classroom. Class time will not be used to directly support the setup of a GAFE domain, however Google offers free online resources and and phone-support to assist with this process.

Christian Sanchez
Christian Sanchez has been teaching for 22 years. He is currently the Technology Coordinator, Social Studies teacher, and Cabinet Member at MS 319 Maria Teresa Mirabal Middle School located in the Washington Heights neighborhood of upper Manhattan. For the past 10 years, Christian has been driven to make technology transparent in and out of the classroom in order to make its use effective and progressive. He has implemented Google Apps for Education school wide and regularly conducts training sessions in the incorporation of the Smartboard and Smart Notebook software. A Social Studies teacher by trade, he holds a B.A. in History from SUNY New Paltz and an M.S. in Learning Technology from Mercy College.
