G Suite for School Operations

Due to popular demand, this summer we are offering G Suite for School Operations on two occasions. Scroll down for course dates and to register for one of the two sections.

Do you believe that how a school functions can directly impact how a student learns? Are your school’s operational systems slow and cumbersome? Have you been meaning to develop a new system for attendance tracking, promoting intervisitations, or supporting family engagement? If you know there must be a better way, then this is the course for you. This is an online, project-based foundations course that focuses on how G Suite for Education can be used as a powerful tool to build efficient and effective operations systems for your schools.

Participants who successfully complete this course will demonstrate the ability to create a digital system using at least one “”Add on”” to support a core schoolwide operation. Participants should have intermediate to advanced knowledge and skills with G Suite for Education tools, including Drive, Sheets, and Forms. This course is not recommended for G Suite novices.

Prerequisite:

This course assumes that participating teachers can easily use the G Suite core applications (Mail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Forms, Classroom) and that they and their students will have GAFE accounts and devices for use in the classroom context. To accomplish the objectives of this course, participants should have regular access to a class set of reliable laptop (or tablet) devices and Internet connectivity with sufficient bandwidth to accommodate the use of Google’s browser-based and/or mobile applications.

This class will be taught by Cate Romero.

Cate Romero holds multiple certifications in Math, Special Education, and Administration. As the Director of a Small Learning Community at Hillcrest High School, she works with a dedicated staff to create community, improve classroom environments and support all students toward college and career readiness. Mrs. Romero currently facilitates workshops in Google Apps for School Operations and, in partnership with Brooklyn College, a graduate course in Learning Environments for SWD.
