G Suite for Teachers I
Return to CoursesG Suite for Teachers I: Grounding Tech Tools in Effective Instructional Practice
Due to popular demand, this summer we are offering G Suite for Teachers I on two occasions. Scroll down for course dates and to register for one of the two sections.
G Suite for Education accounts include core applications, which, when used efficiently, can powerfully shift the way classroom resources and activities are organized and assigned. In this course, participants will learn the basics of G Suite applications such as Forms, Sheets, Slides, and Google Classroom to assign and manage rich student production tasks like essays, textual-analyses, data reports, or multimedia presentations.
Teachers will also be exposed to “add-ons”, such as Doctopus and Goobric, that enhance existing G Suite applications, and support student learning. Add-ons can make differentiated and group assignments more manageable, allow for improved quality and timeliness of teacher feedback, and assist with the myriad tracking, reporting, intervention, and personalized communication tasks that empower a supportive classroom.
Participants who successfully complete this course will demonstrate an ability to create an online learning hub using one or more G Suite applications.
Prerequisite:
This course assumes that participating teachers can easily use the G Suite core applications (Mail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Forms, Classroom) and that they and their students will have GAFE accounts and devices for use in the classroom context. To accomplish the objectives of this course, participants should have regular access to a class set of reliable laptop (or tablet) devices and Internet connectivity with sufficient bandwidth to accommodate the use of Google’s browser-based and/or mobile applications.
